Lets hope it was an isolated zealous nerd ranger. That is some kind of commitment for the guy to sit there to confirm you didn't get back on the river. Obviously the guy was off duty and the whole deal was important enough to him for him to flag down an on duty ranger.
Those who remember the infamous river cop "Lance" would agree that even his crew wouldn't be this concerned with such enforcement.
This stuff sure seems to come in waves. There will be a bunch of hoopla and then its off their radar screen for years again.
Lets just all be particularly careful for a bit especially at sweet cheeks.
Then if it all blows up it will be time to bring back another batch of "squirt boating is not a crime" stickers and start wearing the CO2 inflatable type III's just to piss em off.
